Google announces Gemini AI to become a standard feature in Workspace

2024-09-25

Google has announced that starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, its Gemini artificial intelligence will be integrated as a standard feature into the Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans of Workspace. This development means that enterprise users will no longer need to purchase Gemini as a separate add-on, thereby broadening the AI assistant's adoption across various organizations.

Google emphasized that during its operation, Gemini will not use enterprise data, generated responses, or user prompts to train or enhance its AI models. Workspace administrators will gain increased control, including managing how Gemini-generated responses and user prompts are stored, ensuring compliance with the company's data retention policies.

Additionally, Google has enhanced Gemini's security features, announcing that Gemini for Workspace has achieved industry security and privacy certifications such as SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701. This initiative aims to bolster enterprise confidence in deploying the chatbot within their corporate environments.

Furthermore, Google has introduced a new "Security Advisor" tool for Workspace users. This tool will provide IT administrators with customized security insights, guiding them in implementing threat defense, account security measures, and data protection capabilities across platforms like Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive.

The rollout of the "Security Advisor" feature is planned to be gradually implemented for paid Workspace users in the coming weeks, marking Google's ongoing efforts to strengthen the overall cybersecurity measures of its productivity suite.
