Intel Launches New "High-Demand AAA Gaming" GPU for Automotive Industry

2024-08-12

In the innovation experience activity of artificial intelligence cockpit in Shenzhen, Intel announced its new independent graphics card A760A for the automotive market. This dedicated graphics chip is said to be Intel's first product of this kind for the automotive market.

In a press release, the chip manufacturer claims that this GPU is a "flexible and scalable platform solution that brings next-generation high-fidelity experience to vehicles." The product is expected to be commercially deployed in vehicles as early as 2025.

Intel's first independent graphics card for the automotive industry will bring artificial intelligence and enhanced computing capabilities to the automotive industry, paving the way for a smarter, safer, and more personalized driving future.

With Intel's focus on creating an entertainment ecosystem for cars, this new user interface will also be able to "run demanding AAA-level games" while managing feature-rich AI-based applications similar to personal computers, enabling intelligent mobile office. The company states that this chip will help transform cars into mobile offices equipped with immersive 4K displays, multi-screen setups, and advanced 3D interfaces.

Using Intel's compute platform-driven large-scale language models, the technology company hopes to provide a "highly personalized experience" through voice commands. A760A will also support cameras and gesture recognition, making it easy to control "seven high-definition screens rendering 3D graphics, six in-car cameras, and interactive features."

Intel also claims that this chip can execute complex vehicle control commands through natural language processing, accurately answer vehicle-related questions, and even engage in easy conversations with users, providing a more interactive and enjoyable journey.

It is reported that there will be over 500 car features and AI applications launched, provided by more than 100 independent software vendors.

Intel Competes in the AI Era with New Car GPU

Recently, Intel's performance in the second quarter of 2024, announced at the end of July, fell short of expectations and has been struggling ever since. The company has a pessimistic outlook for the third quarter, with revenue guidance expected to be $13.5 billion, rather than exceeding $14 billion.

Intel also hinted at the possibility of laying off more than 15%, which could result in over 15,000 people being dismissed. This latest move indicates that the tech giant aims to become the "preferred partner of car manufacturers" and focuses on enhancing its AI output.

Jack West, Vice President and General Manager of Intel's Automotive Business, said, "Intel's strategy is to bring the power of AI into devices of all sizes and shapes, and we are excited to bring this expertise and our vast open AI ecosystem into the automotive industry.

"China's rapid development cycle of electric vehicles and the adoption of advanced technology make it an ideal testing ground for our next-generation technologies."
