Anthropic, an artificial intelligence research lab, has partnered with Silicon Valley giant Menlo Ventures to support the next generation of AI startups. The two companies announced on Wednesday that they will launch the $100 million Anthology Fund, which will be used to invest in early-stage AI startups.
The fund will target companies in the seed and Series A funding stages that are developing AI applications across various industries. It aims to support entrepreneurs in developing new AI infrastructure and technologies for fields such as healthcare, education, and scientific research.
Daniela Amodei, co-founder and president of Anthropic, said, "We want to accelerate the development of groundbreaking AI applications. We are looking for startups that leverage AI to enhance human capabilities and productivity, particularly in healthcare, legal services, education, energy, and infrastructure."
This partnership is not just a venture capital fund, but a strategic collaboration between two industry giants. Anthropic brings its cutting-edge AI technology and research expertise, while Menlo Ventures contributes its track record in company building and venture capital.
Matt Murphy, partner at Menlo Ventures, emphasized the unique position of the fund, stating, "By combining Menlo's company-building experience with Anthropic's AI technology and talent, we are in the best position to discover and collaborate with the most promising AI entrepreneurs."
The Anthology Fund will focus on five key areas:
- AI infrastructure
- Cross-industry AI applications
- Consumer AI solutions
- Trust and security tools
- AI applications maximizing social impact
Startups supported by the Anthology Fund will not only receive financial support but also have access to Anthropic's advanced AI models, including $25,000 in free credits, as well as Menlo's venture capital support and extensive industry network.
The fund is named "Anthology" to reflect its goal of bringing together diverse AI innovators to create extraordinary outcomes. With the rapid development of AI, the Anthology Fund aims to play a crucial role in its responsible development and application.
With Anthropic's AI expertise and Menlo's entrepreneurial experience, the Anthology Fund is well-positioned to discover and nurture the next generation of major AI companies. The fund is currently open for applications from AI startups worldwide. While it has a preference for US-based companies, exceptional international startups are also encouraged to apply.
